World's unique mountain range is one of the pearls of our nature. Its diversity is based on the impervious rock, resulting in an abundance of surface waters. Pohorje is densely covered with forests, mostly coniferous. “Celki”, dispersed secluded farms, are a typical settlement form in this region. Many hiking and cycling trails lead to peat bogs with lakes, mountain lodges, waterfalls and little streams.
Raised peat bog, powered by rainwater, is a nature reserve and is protected by the Natura 2000 nature protection directive. The lake is full of water lilies and the path leading to the lake is surrounded by the low-growing dwarf mugo pine.
